Welcome Post

Hello,

I'm Hanley. I'm a 20-year-old boy (no way I'm a man yet) who likes acting and storytelling. I dabbled in both throughout my childhood, and found a renewed interest when I began studying for my A Levels this year. Much to my surprise, my 'fun' subject, drama, has quickly become my most serious.
For the first time in my life I've a true interest in film. This blog will hopefully chronical a developingly complex obsession as I learn more about the individual crafts of acting and storytelling. This blog is as much about discovery as it is judgement - I'm always the first to say I could be wrong.
As far as films go I like a bit of everything. The only genres I tend to avoid are horrors so over-the-top they’re comedies and comedies so cringe-worthy they’re horrors. This, already, is a shocking difference to my disinterest of six months previous. I aim to use this space to educate myself as well as vent, and I hope you'll help me along the way.
See, I'm adverse to trailers. Unless I cannot help myself for whatever reason, I tend to avoid them. Even in the cinema I usually have my headphones in and am buried in a book until the film itself beings to roll. I dislike the underhanded tactics often used in trailers to either make a movie seem to be something its not, or conversely to spoil the film by placing the handful of gags in said trailer. Word of mouth and the amount of free evenings availble dictates what I go to see at the cinema, whereas synopsises do very much the same when it comes to the TV.
One last thing - the reviews I post won't always be from modern movies. They'll be for movies modern to me, to something I've seen recently. It could be from 1929, if it's new to me, up it goes.
I hope you enjoy the twaddle I write, and if not you'll feel free to say so.

Hanley

PS 'Notable actors' are just that. Not lead actors, but those who, for whatever reason, you notice the most in the film.
